Power Tools and MS? Good Day!

Compared to most days,
today was a good one! A great one! I did all my morning
exercises and ate breakfast. My walking is still pretty good! I went
back into my room and noticed the bookshelf that my fish tank is on
was sagging more than usual. One of the shelf supports already ripped
through the particle board do to the weight and water spillage of the
fish tank, it was being held up by a book! Water and particle
board… They do not mix well.
I was contemplating what I
should do, talked about it with my mom, looked for a new one on
Craigslist, and then I decided “Screw it, I will try to fix it”
just how I would have without thought two years ago. I knew how to do
it since it was way simple, but could I do it was the
I started by moving the
fish tank off the shelf and then using a power drill to reset the top
shelf with some new screws. Wow, I can not remember the last time I
used a drill! The shelf’s backing was all warped and ripped from
water spilling over. I nailed that back into place and I did not even
smash a single finger! Nice! The top shelf was still pretty water
damaged though… Hmm… OK, let’s try. I went into the garage, got a
sheet of plywood, measured it out, and plugged in the circular saw…
Nice and smooth, no loss of fingers. I cut out a square of wood and
it just… felt good. Me again!
I nailed that down and put
some contact paper on top to make it look nice. I set up the fish
tank with new water and this is when I realized that my life may
finally be turning around and I am not even on any medication yet! I
just need to keep a steady pace and not push myself too far! Let’s
see how this plays out!

I went about my day pretty
normal and then I decided that I was going to try to go on a short
walk. 2,000 feet, 0.3 miles I think? Just around the block, I have
done this before, but for some reason this time felt really good! Now

I can not wait for tomorrow!

dude that is way too much weight on that cheezy particle book shelf (even now). it's not designed to hold up under that weight. nailing particle board wont help as much as you think, screws would have been better, but even then it just falls apart, esp when damp. would hate to see ya get hurt trying to catch it as it falls apart. put some books or something directly under the tank too, or dont use it. good luck!

No anything weight bearing is screwed many times over, just used nailed for the cardboard backing haha, yeah, particle board is a joke, but it will hold now, I am good at this stuff haha! All about structure, like an egg can hold so much weight before cracking do to its shape an redistribution of weight.

Sounds like you have a mechanical engineering bent.
