Progress Update: MS Pain and More Medication

Well, it looks like it’s time to add a new symptom to the list: pain… for about a week now I have been experiencing a muscle or joint like pain in my heels, shoulders, arms, and elbows. Sometimes it radiates down my back a bit or up my neck but it’s mostly in my arms and shoulders. My skin, usually on my left arm, also gets really tender to the touch, it’s kind of unusual and very unpleasant… At first I thought it might just be a result of exhaustion and fatigue but no matter how much rest I get the pain doesn’t go away…

I then started looking into tendinitis, after all, tendinitis usually presents with pain in the heels, shoulders, and elbows. Well, maybe that last “and” should be an “or” because I can’t seem to figure out if it is possible to have inflammation of multiple tendons at once… To me this feels just the same as a combination of growing pains and flulike muscle aches… It hurts to move my arms a certain way, to flex, or to touch my skin, so to me it doesn’t feel like nerve pain however this could just be the result of plain old inflammation… Whatever the cause is, I have not got a chance to talk to my doctor about it yet and I am eager to do so because this is very unpleasant, especially at night when it starts hurting really bad! I was really hoping this had nothing to do with MS which is why I have not brought it up on my blog really, I have kind of been playing the denial card…
Speaking of pain, the other day (before I decided that this pain I’ve been dealing with was more than likely a result of my MS) I somehow injured my finger doing who knows what… I climbed into bed that night and realized that my finger was killing me! It hurt to straighten it out, making a fist was okay, but opening my hand back up was excruciatingly painful! It felt like the pain was coming from the joint above my knuckle on my middle finger and even hurt to touch it. I knew it wasn’t broken or sprained because it wasn’t turning black or blue and it definitely didn’t feel like nerve pain so my next guess was that it had something to do with a tendon. Made sense because you have tendons on the top of your fingers to open your hand up and tendons on the bottom of your fingers to close it into a fist. It mostly hurt on the top and only hurt when I opened my hand which led me to believe that it was the top tendon that had been injured. So the next morning when the pain had not gone away I went to the doctor’s right away to make sure it wasn’t anything serious because it was so painful! He concluded what I had suspected in that the pan was probably a result of a strained tendon and/or inflammation. “Ibuprofen and a heat pack should do the trick” and sure enough about an hour later the pain had subsided. Because that trip to the doctor’s was obviously a waste of time I decided to bring up the fact that I am breaking out so bad right now. He prescribed me the biggest bottle of pills I have ever seen! These pills (minocycline) are supposed to help reduce my breaking out from the inside while the cream (clindamycin) he prescribed me worked on my skin from the outside. Hopefully this helps! He also referred me to a dermatologist so I’ll make an appointment with them in about three weeks to see if this medication does anything or not.
Now I mentioned to some of my readers on Facebook that I was going to post a video today but that video is going to have to wait till tomorrow… I was busy doing a photo job today and I am exhausted from the heat… I started uploading the video for my camera to my computer but I have had to start over twice because the power keeps shutting off… The stupid window AC unit I installed the other day is now tripping the breaker every 15 minutes… Worked great when no one was home using electricity but now that my brothers are out of school the videogames never end… Ever… So with all the extra TVs and appliances constantly running it seems as though my window AC uses just enough electricity to push the breaker to its maximum capacity… Great… There goes my summer solution…
So now I’m tired, hot, stressed out, out of patience, and just want to rest… So tomorrow when I have my patience back I’ll work on uploading the video for everyone. Thanks for reading and sorry I am taking for ever “to deliver”. Also, just want to say thanks again for all your donations, they really help! Your donations will keep this blog going once school starts!
