Monday, September 13, 2010 – Progress Update: The Needles are Coming!

Well, haven’t noticed too much progress in last couple of days with the exception of my hand, which is showing slight progress. I can play piano and guitar a tiny bit better…
Today however, I am noticing that my balance is a little out of whack… I keep leaning to the left, it hasn’t caused me to fall but I have had to brace myself against a wall a couple of times… It’s been pretty hot lately ( heat is known to trigger symptoms and exacerbations in MS patients) so I think that’s why I’m experiencing some slight setbacks…

Eyesight is definitely changing, as I said before I feel like I’m stuck in middle of a prescription. My sight is horrible without my glasses but at the same time it’s getting worse with my glasses but luckily I have an appointment on Wednesday to change my prescription, so hopefully my eyesight has gotten better.

As mentioned in the title of this entry, here comes the needles! I picked up my Cobaxone injections today and on Thursday I have my training orientation with a nurse on how to use the medication… So by the end of this week I should be starting my daily injections, I’m both excited and nervous…

Something else I’ve forgotten to mention is that for the last week or two I have been expressing really bad back pains when I lay down to sleep at night. As soon as I lay down flat whether it be on my back, stomach, or side it feels as though there is a great pressure on my back, lower to mid. So far the easiest way for me to fall asleep is on my side with a pillow between my legs but that only relieves some of the pain… and I refuse to get back on painkillers, it felt like they were doing me more harm than good, meaning, I felt so unhealthy while taking them especially because I could tell I was building an addiction… Don’t need that in my life right now…

Anyways, I have also noticed that within the last week I’ve been experiencing a weird buzzing sensation that shoots down my legs and lower spine when I tilt my head down… I don’t know what it is, I have not done too much research yet, but I know it’s probably not good… I have an appointment with my neurologist on Monday, so I will be sure to bring it up…
